Age Changes in the macula (macular degeneration) implies the existence of pathological changes in the macula of the retina. It is the leading cause of vision loss in people over 60 years. There are two kinds of age-related macular degeneration, wet and dry, where the dryness is the most common.
Why age-related macular degeneration occurs is not clear, but the risk of developing the disease increases the older you get, and it is more common in women than in men. The macula is the area in the middle of the retina where we see as the sharpest. As you get older can change the macula, which means that you can get hard to see and above all to see sharply.
