Sun rash is most common in children and adolescents, but can occur at any age. It is not uncommon for adults who have endured the sun well, suddenly develops sun rash. Sun rash often move by itself.
What is sun rash?
Sun rash is an allergic reaction in the skin. This response is triggered when ultraviolet rays hitting your skin. Most often it is the UVA, which provides sun rash, but also the UVB can cause the same reaction. The energy from the ultraviolet rays emitted in the skin and affect the cells. We do not know the exact mechanism that causes the immune system recognize these reactions as “undesirable” and starts an allergic reaction.
What is the symptoms sun rash?
Sun rash can take in several ways. This is because there may be various allergic reactions in the skin that varies from person to person. In most cases, redness, swelling and itching of the skin in areas a few hours have been in the sun. This improves as spontaneously within a few days. Some may develop an acne-like rash that lasts several days.
Those sun rash is often most bothered the spring. By repeated tanning cures skin, and many can tolerate sun quite well over the summer. Some feel that they can withstand the sun until a certain limit. If they get over this, they get eczema.
